Her sister told Barb at the wedding that her mother was unsealed from their father in order to be sealed to Ned.

And remember, were it the other way around and Barb's dad had gotten remarried after her mother died, he could have been sealed to his new wife for all time and eternity, showing that Mormons do still practice a kind of polygamy. So this story line of the church wanting to make a clear distinction between themselves and the Mormon Pioneers shows they are simply being pragmatic because they know how the majority of people feel about plural marriage. Bill alludes to this tradition of pragmatism when he says that the church has a history of lying for the greater good, which, I would venture to say, many (most?) religions do.

Interesting, because if you look outside of the Book of Mormon, the question is already answered in the Bible. In Matthew 22, Jesus was asked if a woman married multiple times (presumably widowed and re-married), then at the resurrection, whose wife would she be, since all of them were married to her? He answered, "“You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven."

I predict it is an rlds church. The church started by Emma Smith, (JS's wife) & Joseph Smith III, (JS' & Emma's son). In the rlds, there are many similarities coupled with differences. Women are allowed to be bishop & PH, unlike the LDS. Polygamy isn't allowed. Here's a link that explains: mrm.org/rlds Did I call it or what!! Bill didn't seem too overjoyed w/Barb's invitation for him to visit w/her. I got tickled when Bill told her that one goes to church to abide w/philosophies; not to change them!

You called it Duets! I wonder just who Bill thinks makes up the rules in church, any church. He makes up the rules for his church, but he doesn't believe that Barb can have a say about the rules in her church.
Of course, Bill could never say, you're right Barb. I'll change the rules in my church. But, he just might receive a revelation that women can be PH holders. It would be ok, of course, if comes from God to Bill, not via a wife.

That's right, it would defeat Bill's entire purpose of starting his own church. It's much easier (for Bill) to make up the rules; than to change other people's minds, to suit Bill, lol.

No, Barb's new church is NOT the REORGANIZED Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS) (which in 2001 changed its name to The Community of Christ). The RLDS/CoC does NOT believe "most of the same things as the LDS Church" (as Barb said): they do not believe in baptism for the dead, the endowment, operating more than one temple, eternal progression, eternal marriage, or any of the Utah-based LDS Church's doctrinal developments after the death of Joseph Smith in 1844. They disavow Brigham Young ever having been a prophet. One of their founding principles was adamant opposition to polygamy as practiced by the LDS Church in Utah: NEVER would the RLDS/CoC "evolve" (as Barb said) on the polygamy issue.
Barb's new church is called the REFORMED Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is fictional.
