It was definitely time for a change...I'm not crazy about the new intro it seems a little long and time consuming but it is okay for now.

im not sure about long and time-consuming but honestly when i saw the new intro i was a bit disturbed.
it seemed as though the writers were telling us to expect the downfall of the family.
am i the only one who gets that?

I love the new intro ... shows the family structure and what's happening with each of them. They're all kind of free-floating right now. Bill isn't protecting his family, he's out there doing his own thing and expecting everyone to just go along with his ideas. He wanted the casino, now he has Barb "being his eyes and ears," in other words running it for him, a position she wants nothing to do with. Bill's really put her in a precarious place, not knowing all the things Jerry and his son have to do to keep things on the right path with the people of the reservation, who have made it clear in no uncertain terms that they really don't like Bill's interference with their way of life. Poor Barb! All the wives are against his running for political office...but there he is, doing what he wants. Like Margene said, he really wasn't interested in their opinion. It irks me to see him boss his family around, but I love how he can't get away with this outside of the family! Aside from the Henrickson fiascos, we now have Alby's naked tush to contend with! Oy, will my retinas ever recover from that scene!!! And ghost-daddy??? Didn't we cover that with David and his deceased dad in "6 Feet Under," and Dexter and his dead adoptive dad in Showtime's "Dexter?" Do all these men need their daddies to run their consciences? Enough of my ranting. I've been a loyal viewer since the premiere of season one, tho I find the show AND it's characters quirky. After the totally heart wrenching ending of Dexter's fourth season, I welcome some levity with Big Love! Looking forward to next week's installment.

I got the same feeling with the free fall in the beginning. I love the new theme song. Does anyone know the name of it?

Yeah I think it might be foreshadowing of what to expect this season for sure.

leighere... the new theme song is "Home" by The Engineers. If I knew how to add links, I'd add one here with the words.

My mom hates the new opening...I kinda like it. It definitely sets the tone for the new season.

I don't like it, sorry I'm a creature of habit though, maybe that's why I don't like it very much.

I think there is a lot of symbolism in the new opening, and that it is referring to them all falling into the "outer darkness" Bill feared so much. After watching the first few episodes of the season, I think Nicki and Margie may leave him (?) and that Barb is going to stray (aka cheat) with Tommy, but not leave. I am pretty sure that is her hand reaching for Bill's at the end.
ps. I liked the old opening A LOT better!

I can't find this song by The Engineers anywhere. You can't buy it online and it's not listed on any of their CDs. Does anyone know how to find it? Thanks.

Home Is this my home Been starting over Bathe in the water
Time Time after time I'm feeling so sorry I run out of words to say Relieved I'm so relieved The table are turning Don't sacrifice this feeling
Goals There are no goals There is no order Paid for in laughter
Home Is this my home Been starting over Bathe in the water

In the old opening they come together, join hands and then the ice starts to crack. (their foundation)
In the new opening we see darkness (outer darkness?) and they seem to be falling away from one another - Bill seems to be reaching for them. In the end Bill's hand is shown reaching out and only one of the wives is reaching back.
I think that could be relevant.
