I get that Adaleen killing JJ and his wife contradicts the whole "every life is valuable" idea, but I also think that what Adaleen did at that moment was purely based on emotion and instinct. Not only was what they were doing completely immoral, but they were also harming her daughter, Nicki, at the same time. Adaleen had to do something to protect herself and her daughter at that moment, and was incredibly ticked off.
When it comes to the pregnancy, the baby is innocent. It had nothing to do with the actions of JJ and therefore, in Adaleen's mind, shouldn't be punished. Also, Adaleen considered the pregnancy a miracle. Even if it turns out that the child is from incest, she still thought the fact that a woman at her age could be pregnant was a miracle.
And Adaleen and Nicki bend the rules for rules they don't feel strongly about. We know that Adaleen believes that women should have babies based on her reaction when she found out that Nicki didn't want to have any more. I have a feeling that her belief in the value of babies is too strong that she wouldn't be able to do anything that would cause harm to her unborn child, including simply not taking her hormones. It wouldn't be a matter of simply saying she had done everything she could to keep the pregnancy going, it would be a matter of knowing and really believing she had done everything.
