Say what? lol Sorry, you lost me... When JJ stormed into their home and was screaming about wanting Caralyn back and saying he gave Nikki a few more days and then she just started hanging up on him. Well after seeing last weeks episode where Caralyn said she had permission to go to DC when she really didn't...Leaving Nikki to look like a liar...I am wondering if the same thing happened when JJ accused Nikki of hanging up the phone on him the week previously. I am thinking that Nikki has been taking Caralyn's word about things being okay or not with her dad in order to not have to deal with JJ all the time herself.

I think growing up in polygamy, as a woman especially, brings out the manipulativeness in you. You can see it with Nicki, Sarah, Caralyn, Lois, Lura, Wanda, and certainly Adaleen and Rhonda.
When you're just one of the wives or daughters, your face-time with the man of the house is greatly reduced. It seems they often act in outlandish ways to get their father's/husband's attention. Lying is also a big part of that, as they have to work their hand in order to get what they want. They'd just be denied if they asked outright.
I don't know if Caralyn has ulterior motives. I would certainly be mad if my mother abandoned me.

Well, you also have to think... if things that most of us wouldnt even consider a sin (talking to a boy alone, listening to rock music, reading vogue, etc) are actually considered grave sins by some of these compounds - it doesnt necessarily mean nobody does it. It just means that the ones who do become very adept at hiding their behavior, sneaking around, and lying.
I agree Cara Lynn has got to eb extremely mixed up emotionally - her mothe rleft her and then comes back into her life. Her raising in the flds and then living with the henricksons. Her questioning of her faith. etc. Put that on top of the fact she's a yound teenage girl... major emotional turmoil, and internal drama imo.

When JJ is attempting to inject the eggs into Nickki, he opens the fridge and talks about giving Nickki something he borrowed from their daughter, so this implies that he has harvested eggs from Cara Lynn and has fertilised them himself and is using Nickki and Adeline as carriers.
